Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Performing diagnostics, repairs and preventative maintenance on customer vehicles
- Troubleshooting mechanical and electrical problems with highway diesel vehicles
- Entering parts on service orders
- Filling out service orders in our cloud-based system
- Ability to work in a demanding environment, communicate with other mechanics, and shop staff
- Professionally communicating with customers, vendors, co-workers and contractors
Applicants Should Have:
- Ability to perform inspections and detailed diagnostics
- Ability to analyze and solve complex technical problems (troubleshoot) and recommend custom solutions
- Ability to perform engine mechanical repairs as required on heavy trucks
- Demonstrates the ability to plan and prioritize work and material requirements and operate independently
- Expected to take a leading role in implementing and promoting workplace safety and professionalism and recommend positive workplace change
- Demonstrate ability to read and understand written instructions, write job reports, work order summaries and other record-keeping functions
- Demonstrates ability to work effectively in a team environment, exercise good judgement and common sense and conduct themselves in a professional manner
- Demonstrates good interpersonal and oral communication skills
- Must be physically fit and of reasonable strength and endurance to perform the duties required in a truck/trailer shop operation
- Able to perform duties in all weather conditions
- Full understanding of all relevant safety and compliance regulations, policies and generally accepted work practices relating to on-road Truck/Trailer shop operations
- Computer/keyboarding skills and a basic understanding of computer systems, we utilize a cloud-based work order management system
- Engine diagnostic experience on all kinds of trucks is an asset
Qualifications
- Heavy Duty Mechanic (Truck and Transport) 3rd or 4th year apprentice. Will also consider Journeyman Automotive Technicians
- Class 5 Driver's License
- Class 3 with Q an asset.
